Winter Tales | 110 Miles: Tour du Mont Blanc

May contain: sphere, crystal, and person

Linda Drobinski-Baker shares the tale of taking on the multi-day trek around Western Europe's highest peak, Mont Blanc (15,771') with her sister, Karen, as a newbie hikers in their 60s. With a cumulative elevation gain of 33,000', their trip is full of unique experiences such as the infamous ladder section (scaling a crag on 9 metal ladders set into rock), seeing ibex, and walking beside the Mont Blanc Glacier. Linda has resided in Montezuma County for most of 32 years, working on the Navajo Nation for much of that time. With children grown and flown and spare time on their hands, Linda and Karen have been joyfully growing their hiking and backpacking skills together and with friends over the last three years.
