Amy Jones Calligraphy | On Display in the Quiet Room
Amy Jones, a calligrapher with almost 40 years of experience in lettering, has shared her expertise through Continuing Education classes, local guild workshops, and art sales at various Arts & Crafts Fairs in NM. Formerly working in the semiconductor industry and as an accountant, she now enjoys retirement with her partner, Olin, splitting their time between Dolores and Las Cruces, NM.
Having dedicated over half her life to calligraphy, Amy's journey began with an Adult Education Italic class, leading her to join a calligraphy guild and attend numerous workshops under national instructors. She has mastered various lettering styles using different tools like broad edge, pointed pen, brush, and more. Her art ranges from readable to abstract, incorporating backgrounds, layering, and mark-making techniques.
The current exhibition showcases a blend of techniques Amy has acquired throughout her artistic voyage, capturing words and quotes that have inspired her over the years.
